Sales of Builder’s Botanical Gin sold at Hy-Vee stores will benefit local nonprofit
KANSAS CITY (April 26, 2023) — The Kansas City Current is collaborating with Restless Spirits Builder’s Botanical Gin to benefit the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA).
In partnership with the KC Current, for every Builder’s Botanical Gin bottle sold throughout the 2023 season, both Restless Spirits and Hy-Vee will each donate $2 to MOCSA. Special signage will be featured on packaging/displays of Builder’s Botanical Gin bottles in Hy-Vee locations in the Kansas City metro.
“We are grateful to our partners at Restless Spirits for their support of this incredible local organization,” said Ben Aken, Kansas City Current Vice President of Community Relations. “The programs offered by MOCSA make our community a safer place to live and are invaluable to the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault. Together, we are building a safer community for our fans, friends and allies.”
In addition, MOCSA will provide SAFE Training for Restless Spirits staff members. The program focuses on training bar and restaurant staff to recognize potentially harmful situations and give them the tools to intervene effectively to prevent sexual violence and support survivors.
“Restless Spirits is honored to team up with two prominent women-centric organizations to create safe spaces for everyone in the Kansas City community,” said Benay Shannon, the brand’s co-founder, co-owner and award-winning master distiller.
“This partnership will help MOCSA raise awareness and reach more survivors who have been impacted by sexual abuse and assault. Our vision is a community free from sexual violence. We believe that prevention is possible and partnering with local organizations like the Kansas City Current and Restless Spirits generates new energy and allies who are eager to support survivors and MOCSA’s mission,” said Julie Donelon, MOCSA President and CEO.
MOCSA was also recognized as the Community Champion of the Match at the Kansas City Current’s match last weekend.
