LAWRENCE, Kan. – As the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence finalizes the rosters for the 2021 Celebrity Softball Weekend, two legendary names were added. NBA Jayhawks Devonte' Graham and Svi Mykhailiuk confirmed they will be honorary coaches for the big game, joining an already stellar list of local celebrities.

The beloved duo joins Kathleen Sebelius, Dr. Anthony Lewis, Brian Hanni, Deja Brooks, Brandon McAnderson, Lt. Myrone Grady and many more local stars who are suiting up in support of the Boys & Girls Club, August 6-7.

Graham and Mykhailiuk are in Lawrence for the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic, August 5-6, the annual fundraiser that benefits families battling pediatric cancer. They decided to extend their stay through Saturday to take part in the Boys & Girls Club’s game, as well.

“We are excited and thankful for every single one of our celebrity players,” CEO Monica Dittmer said. “But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a fan-girl moment when I heard Devonte and Svi were coming to the game. This is the product of two fantastic causes working together for the greater good. Whether you support Roundball, Boys & Girls Club or both, you are supporting kids in Lawrence. That’s always a great thing.”

Two teams, represented by official team sponsors Stephens Real Estate and Grandstand Glassware + Apparel, will square off for two different trophies. The Celebrity Softball Champions trophy will be awarded to the team who wins the game. The Champions of Great Futures trophy goes to the squad who fundraises the most as a team. Players and teams are not required to raise a certain amount of money. Fundraising is simply adding another level of friendly competition to the game.

The Club will host a pregame VIP party on Friday, August 6, at the Cider Gallery from 6-9 p.m. Attendees can mingle with some of the celebrity players, participate in the silent auction and enjoy delicious food and drink. Limited capacity will be maintained to ensure social distancing is possible.

Game time is set for noon on Saturday, August 7, at Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park. Fans will be treated to a modified seven innings of slow-pitch softball. All levels of playing experience are welcome, however, celebrities can name their own substitute and can cheer them on from the dugout.

Fans can purchase a weekend pass for $75, or tickets to the game only ($20 for adults; $5 for children 5-17; free for children 4 and under). Purchase tickets here:https://playball21.givesmart.com.
