JEFFERSON CITY -- in game one of the of 2 game series The Renegades grabbed single runs in every inning from the second to the fifth to open a 4-0 lead over the 5-time MINK League Champions.
In the top of the sixth, Renegade reliever Luke Gray allowed three earned runs and after 5.5 innings, the Renegades led 4-3. An RBI choice by Logan Haring scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and pushed the Renegades' lead to 5-3.
Lane Threlkeld pitched a scoreless eighth and Trent Pobst stole home in the bottom of the eighth for an insurance run.
The Mustangs grabbed a run in the top of the ninth on a Karl Koerper double with two-out, but that was all as Threlkeld shut the door for the two inning save.
Luke Gray got the win for Jeff City and Cameron July was credited with the loss for St. Joe.
The teams meet again tonight at 7 p.m. at Vivion Field.
